Germany Historic Town Hall, Altes Rathaus Bamberg
The Old Town Hall in Bamberg is one of the most important buildings that characterise the historic city centre. According to legend, the Bishop of Bamberg did not want to grant the citizens space to build a town hall. Therefore, the people of Bamberg rammed stakes into the Regnitz River and created an artificial island on which they erected the building.
