Germany Neuenburg virgin forest
Part of the Neuenburg woods (Neuenburger Holz) nature reserve is the Neuenburg Virgin Forest (Neuenburger Urwald), a former pasture woodland (Hutewald). Already in the middle of the 17th century it was declared under protection and today it mainly consists of ancient oak and beech trees. Some are said to be over 800 years old.
