The Pergamon Museum in Berlin's Mitte district is part of the building ensemble of Museum Island and thus a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Planned on behalf of Kaiser Wilhelm II from 1907 to 1909 by Alfred Messel in the style of neoclassicalism, it was executed by Ludwig Hoffmann in a simplified form from 1910 to 1930. It is currently home to the collection of antiquities with the famous pergamon altar, the Near Eastern Museum and the Museum of Islamic Art. As part of the Master Plan Museum Island, the Pergamon Museum will be renovated by 2023 and will be partially closed.

In 2019, the Pergamon Museum recorded around 804,000 visitors.
