Germany The Marktkirche, Wiesbaden
The Marktkirche in Wiesbaden is a neo-Gothic Protestant church, built between 1853 and 1862, and is often referred to as the “Cathedral of Nassau.” Located at Schlossplatz in the city center, it is notable for its red-brick façade, five towers, and an 88-meter-high spire—the tallest in Wiesbaden. Inside, visitors can admire a vaulted ceiling painted like a starry sky, colorful stained glass windows, and the historic Walcker organ. The church also houses the largest carillon in Hesse and serves as both a place of worship and a venue for concerts and cultural events.
