Germany Oberstdorf Milky Way Spot
If you are searching for an easily accessible and super dark mountain & milky way spot, this is an impressive option. No climbing or hiking needed, just park your car and walk 10 minutes. The valleys south of Oberstdorf are extremely dark. The few houses have no lighting and there are no street lights. Alltogether, you will enjoy extremely dark skies here, perfectly suited for milky way shots, because the milky way nicely aligns with the mountains. This location also offers a small gravel road pointing to the south.
Photography Tips
Bring something to illuminate the foreground. It is too dark there to bet on natural remaining light for the foreground. That's also why you need to bring a head lamp. You won't see the road otherwise.
The Milky way aligns well with this spot in April/May early in the morning (3-4 am). Later in the year, it will more more to the right and will be visible earlier. Make sure to check with suitable apps.

Travel Information
Parking is available for free at night at the big "Parkplatz Fellhornbahn". You can either walk the street or the gravel road. Be careful with your lights. People live there in the few houses and you don't want to wake them up.
