The Olympiaturm in Munich, completed in 1968, stands at 291 meters, making it the tallest structure in the city. It was built for the 1972 Summer Olympics and features a revolving restaurant at 181 meters and an observation deck at 190 meters with panoramic views of Munich and the Alps. Since June 2024, the tower has been closed for extensive renovations and is expected to reopen in mid-2026.

For shooting at the Olympiaturm spot, aim to visit during the golden hour, shortly after sunrise or before sunset, for warm, soft light that enhances the tower’s structure and the surrounding park. Use a wide-angle lens to capture the full height of the tower along with its environment. Including elements like trees or paths in the foreground can add depth and context to your shot. A tripod helps with stability, especially if you want to experiment with long exposures or low-light conditions. Consider different angles, such as shooting from below to emphasize the tower’s height or from a distance to show it within the cityscape. Overcast days can also work well to bring out details without harsh shadows.
