Germany Sellin Pier (west view)
The Sellin pier on Rügen was first built in 1906 (508 m), but destroyed by ice in 1918 and fire in 1920. A new 500 m pier opened in 1925, but ice again destroyed it in 1941/42, leaving only the bridge house, later used as a dance hall until the 1970s. The remains were demolished in 1978. The current pier, built 1992–1997, is 394 m long, the island’s longest, and features a beachside restaurant illuminated at night.
Photography Tips
A regular lens will do, but you will need a tripod and preferably some ND filters to smooth the water and the clouds, also an ND grad filter for the sky and the rising sun.
