Germany Ehrenstein Monastery

Ehrenstein is a beautiful small monastery near Neustadt (Wied), which is quite popular in this region for weddings for a good reason. The surrounding forests and the rivers (Mehrbach and Wied) nearby make this a great area for a hike as well.

Some parts of the forest are no-drone zones, so make sure to check in advance where you are allowed to fly and pay attention to these limitations, or get a permit from the nature reserve.

At the right time, you get a lot of fog in the valley due to the rivers, but also pay attention to when the sun is settling, which can be a lot earlier because there are some hills surrounding the area.

There is parking directly at the Ehrenstein Monastery. Sturdy shoes are recommended for hiking around the area. Avoiding the typical times for weddings is a good idea if you want to get parking. There is a forest cemetery along the street with a few more parking slots.
