Germany Bartholomäuskapelle und Kaiserpfalz
The Bartholomew Chapel in Paderborn was built around 1017 and is considered the oldest known hall church north of the Alps.
The Bartholomew Chapel was part of the Ottonian new building of the royal palace in Paderborn as a presumed palace chapel. The Paderborn palace was a royal palace built in 776 under Charlemagne, which was destroyed by the Saxons in 778,
rebuilt, and destroyed again in 1000 during a city fire. A few meters away, a successor building was constructed under King Henry II in the 11th century. Today it contains a museum.
