Germany Meißen with Albrechtsburg and Dome
The medium-sized town of Meissen is famous for the production of Meissen porcelain.
Meissen Cathedral and Albrechtsburg Castle on the Burgberg hill on the left bank of the Elbe dominate the skyline of Meissen. Construction of the cathedral began around 1250, but the two striking cathedral towers were not completed until 1909, after the west front with its two towers, built in 1315, had been destroyed by lightning in 1547.
