The Holy Cross Church, visible from afar, is the largest building on Calvary Hill in Bad Tölz. The Holy Stairs, which had been built earlier, were covered by a church in 1723. Before that, the Church of the Holy Cross was built and consecrated in 1726. These two churches were eventually united and have since formed a double church.
