U‑Bahnhof Schloßstraße is a subway station on the line U9 located in the district Steglitz. Opened in 1974, the station serves shopping-street Schloßstraße. It was designed by architects Ralf Schüler and Ursulina Schüler‑Witte and is known for its distinctive 1970s architectural style featuring exposed concrete and colorful design elements.

The station was originally planned as an interchange between the U9 line and the proposed U10 line. To accommodate this future connection, the station was built with two stacked island platforms and additional track space. However, the U10 line was never constructed, leaving parts of the station unused. As a result, Schloßstraße appears larger and more complex than most U-Bahn stations.

Photography Tips

It is rather dark down there, so you will need a tripod. A wide-angle-lens comes in handy as well.
