Germany Turmwindmühle Menke, Südlohn
Menke Mühle is one of the most impressive historic windmill sites in the Münsterland region, featuring a beautifully preserved Dutch-style octagonal windmill from 1812 together with a steam mill, sawmill, and traditional miller’s house. The fully restored industrial machinery and old wooden structures make it an outstanding location for history, architecture, and atmospheric countryside photography.
Photography Tips
Call the owner of the mill before and kindly ask if you could go inside the mill. There you will find beautiful details or great perspectives from out of the old windows as a framing.
Travel Information
ou can reach the mill easily by car via Windmühlenstraße in Südlohn, around 1.5 hours from Münster or Osnabrück. Cycling routes through the flat Münsterland landscape also pass nearby, and guided visits are possible on request or during the annual German Mill Day on Pentecost Monday.
