The St. Clemens Church is one of the most important historic churches in the Münsterland region and a defining landmark of Telgte’s old town. With its impressive brick architecture, long religious history, and central role in local pilgrimage traditions, the church reflects the deep spiritual and cultural heritage that has shaped Telgte for centuries.
Telgte is especially known as one of the major pilgrimage destinations in Westphalia and as an important stop along the historic Way of St. James (Jakobsweg). Pilgrims and travelers have passed through the town for generations on their journey toward Santiago de Compostela, making the Jakobsweg an important cultural and spiritual connection throughout the entire region. The routes around Telgte combine peaceful countryside, historic chapels, and riverside landscapes along the Ems, creating a unique atmosphere for walking and reflection.

Photography Tips

Telgte is a great city to walk around and watch out for specific small details, lovely half timbered houses and leading lines to subjects. Just be by ourself, try out different angles, apertures and shutter speed. Practice is sometimes everything.
