Germany Brunsberg (Heather in bloom)
One of the northernmost foothills of the Lüneburg Heath is the Brunsberg near Sprötze, a district of Buchholz in der Nordheide.
According to an old rule of thumb, the Lüneburg Heath is in bloom from 8 August to 9 September. Of course, nature doesn’t stick to this exactly. The heath is often in bloom from July until the end of September. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful natural spectacles in northern Germany: purple carpets made up of hundreds of thousands of broom heath plants.
