The fountain at Europaplatz offers several different compositions depending on your position. From some angles, the background is mainly trees and sky, while other viewpoints include nearby high-rise buildings and surrounding architecture. Flags are sometimes installed around the square, which can also change the look of the scene.

The fountain works well for long exposures, especially during blue hour, but the spot also offers possibilities for architectural and urban photography.

For long exposures, blue hour works particularly well when the illuminated fountain contrasts with the darker sky. Try moving around the square, as the background changes considerably depending on your shooting position. A tripod is recommended for longer exposures.

Traffic around Europaplatz can also be incorporated into the composition for light trails.

Parking directly around Europaplatz can be limited and subject to local parking regulations. A convenient public option is the paid APAG parking lot at Ludwig Forum (Lombardenstraße 4), about a 10-minute walk from the fountain.

Europaplatz is also easily accessible by car via the A544, which ends directly at the roundabout.
