Germany Dahliengarten (Dahlia Garden) Hamburg

Europe’s oldest surviving dahlia garden is situated in Hamburg’s Volkspark, just a few hundred metres from the Hamburger SV football stadium. Over 600 different varieties of dahlia, totalling more than 11,000 individual plants, are on display. From around mid-July until the first night frost in late October, the dahlia garden is open daily from 8 am until dusk. Entry to the 15,000-square-metre public garden is free.
The diverse colours and shapes of the flowers are a feast for the eyes. But there’s also ‘something for the ears’: the whole park is filled with the buzzing of bees and bumblebees.
