Germany Dorfkirche Grabow
The Dorfkirche in Grabow, a small village belonging to the municipality of Möckern in the Jerichower Land, is a beautiful and relatively large fieldstone church that perfectly represents the traditional architecture of the Fläming region. Situated right in the center of the village, the church is characterized by its rugged stone masonry, a striking half-timbered gable, and a charming half-timbered tower. These wooden structures were carefully rebuilt and renewed after a severe fire damaged the roof and tower in the past. Today, the church sits peacefully in the middle of a spacious, wrap-around churchyard enclosed by a massive historical fieldstone wall.
Photography Tips
Because the churchyard is very large and goes all the way around the building, you have excellent flexibility to explore and photograph the church from almost any perspective.
Travel Information
Grabow is a fantastic spot for a short, scenic detour if you want to discover the charming, smaller villages of the region, though it does not have a direct highway exit. If you are traveling on the A2 autobahn, it is best to take the exit at Theeßen. From there, you can enjoy a relaxed drive to Grabow. Afterwards, you can continue your route toward Burg bei Magdeburg, where you can easily hop back onto the A2. Since you will be passing through, it is highly recommended to combine this trip with a visit to Burg widely known as the "City of Towers" to explore its historic old town. Parking in Grabow is easy and typically available directly in the village center near the church.
