The magnificent Eichenallee along the Stresower Landstraße is a stunning natural monument that elegantly guides travelers from the Stresower Drift directly into the tranquil village of Stresow. Comprising about two dozen ancient, towering oak trees, this historic avenue is a rare and beautifully preserved example of traditional rural landscaping in the Jerichower Land. The creation of this impressive natural gateway is closely tied to the legacy of Margarete Gärtner, a prominent local estate owner and highly respected philanthropist. Known for her deep commitment to the community and the aesthetic enhancement of the region, she is believed to have commissioned the planting of these very trees to create a grand, welcoming entrance to the village. Today, this majestic canopy stands as a living testament to her enduring influence and provides a breathtaking rural setting.

Photography Tips

Tree avenues naturally provide some of the most powerful leading lines in landscape photography. Positioning yourself carefully along the road allows you to use the towering, gnarled trunks of the historic oaks to draw the viewer's eye directly toward the horizon. This location is exceptionally rewarding during the autumn months, when the dense oak canopy turns into a vibrant tunnel of orange and gold. Visiting early in the morning is also highly recommended; when a soft mist rolls in from the surrounding fields, it adds a wonderfully moody, atmospheric quality to the ancient trees. The deep, sweeping shadows cast by the thick branches during the golden hours of sunrise or sunset also create fantastic natural contrast.

Travel Information

Located on the main approach to the village, this beautiful historic avenue is incredibly easy to find. However, because the Stresower Landstraße is an active country road, it is absolutely essential to prioritize safety and be mindful of local traffic while visiting. It is highly recommended to drive through the avenue and park your vehicle safely within the village of Stresow itself, rather than stopping directly on the narrow road. From the village, you can easily take a short, relaxing walk back to the trees. Afterward, taking the time to explore the quiet streets of Stresow offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the peaceful rural charm of the Jerichower Land.
