Germany Altvater tower, Lehesten
The Altvaterturm near Lehesten is one of southern Thuringia's most unusual landmarks. Standing on the Wetzstein mountain, this impressive stone tower is a reconstruction of the historic Altvaterturm, which originally stood on Praděd (Altvater) in today's Czech Republic.
With its medieval-inspired architecture and exposed hilltop location, the tower is an interesting subject for architectural and landscape photography. During foggy autumn mornings, the entire area can transform into an incredibly atmospheric scene, with the upper part of the tower almost disappearing into the mist.

Photography Tips
For this particular shot, I positioned my camera extremely low to the ground, using the colorful autumn leaves in the foreground to create depth. The small car adds a sense of scale, while the impressive tower gradually disappears into the thick fog behind it.
A wide-angle lens works particularly well for this perspective, emphasizing the foreground while keeping the entire tower in the composition.
Although clear weather offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape, I actually prefer foggy conditions for photographing the tower. The soft, diffused light creates a mysterious atmosphere, and the reduced visibility makes the building look almost like a medieval castle emerging from the clouds.
Try experimenting with different distances and compositions, especially when the fog moves and reveals different parts of the tower.
