This is a very famous place and a great spot for night fotography. I guess the picture speaks for itself. :-)
I love the fact that the gate stands on a traffic island. So you are able to take pictures even though there is traffic all around you.

Photography Tips
Take a tripod with you for long-time exposures and you will be able to create awesome effects with light trails around the gate.
Travel Information
In the evening you can go by car because parking lots will be plenty available or take the U-Bahn and exit at stop University. Keep walking in driving direction of the U-Bahn for around 300m.
If you can take only pictures at daylight and you have plenty of time available, why don`t you go to the English Garden, which is great for people photography.
