Regensburg is a completely intact medieval town. Next to St. Peter's Cathedral, the old stone bridge, the many patrician houses and family towers are among the city's landmarks. Its Mediterranean flair has earned it the nickname of Italy's northernmost city. You can also admire other sights in the nearby surroundings, such as the Walhalla near Donaustauf, the Liberation Hall in Kehlheim. Nearby you can also admire the famous Weltenburg Monastery and, as a natural spectacle, the Donau breakthrough near Weltenburg.

Parking spaces are just outside the old town. There are two central car parks, but most of them are completely overcrowded on weekends. Free parking spaces around the old town are hard to find even for locals. If you like to hike a little bit, you should park on the Dultplatz north of Regensburg and either walk over the stone bridge and Stadtamhof or the iron footbridge to Regensburg. Both access routes show you great views of Regensburg.
