The south coast of Santorini (Thira) consists of volcanic pumice tuff deposits, up to several ten meters high. At the beach these deposits form a scenic backdrop.

Travel Information
Two roads lead to Vlicháda, there is a parking lot by the beach, not far from the also picturesque port. The parking is one end point of the tuff mountains. Walking on the beach to the northwest you reach the paths leading into the mountains. It is possible to reach these paths from the north by car, but attention: Those roads turn into very badly washed out dirt roads, partly steep, with a good chance to get a vehicle stuck!
