Greece Chora, Folegandros
Perched dramatically on a cliff edge, Chora of Folegandros is one of the most breathtaking villages in the Cyclades. Its whitewashed houses spill down the rocky hillside, leading the eye toward the iconic Church of Panagia perched above. The light here—especially at golden hour—paints the cliffs in warm tones and creates an unforgettable contrast between the Aegean blue and the island’s rugged landscape. This is a place where time feels suspended, perfect for slow exploration, quiet moments, and photography that captures the soul of the Greek islands.
Photography Tips
Shoot at golden hour: The low sun wraps the cliffs and houses in warm light, perfect for contrast and detail. Use a mid-range focal length (35–70 mm) to compress the landscape slightly and highlight the layering of houses and terraces.
Look for leading lines — the zig-zag path to the church naturally guides the viewer’s eye.
If shooting handheld, keep your shutter speed fast; the wind on the cliffs can surprise you.
Don’t be afraid to step back and elevate; the wider viewpoint gives you the full drama of the cliff and village.
