Greenland Blue hour in Ittoqqortoormiit, Scoresbysund

Ittoqqortoormiit is one of the most remote settlements in Greenland, where life is still closely connected to the surrounding Arctic landscape. Hunting and fishing remain an important part of everyday life, with traditions passed down through generations. Scattered across the rocky slopes, the colourful houses stand out against the raw landscape.

Blue hour is a great time to explore Ittoqqortoormiit in a nice mood. Skip the tripod, increase your ISO a little and use a lower shutter speed if you are stable to shoot out of your hands to stay flexible while moving through the town and capturing the colourful houses in the fading light.

Use a pro mist filter for more glow in your pictures. You can see the effect at the lights.

Scoresbysund is one of the most remote places you can reach in Greenland. There are no roads or infrastructure here. The area is explored by sailing boat, smaller expedition vessel, kayak or multi-day guided kayak trips, with August to roughly mid-September being the best window to experience it. Just around 500 people coming per year.
