The street scene in the 5a Avenida norte is probably the most photographed and painted view of the city. Also very recognisable for the people who have ever been to La Antigua are the beautiful colonial buildings, ruins and the ever-present Agua volcano.

Photography Tips

Although cameras and smartphones are common these days, always be careful when taking pictures of the locals or historical buildings. You will need a permit when using a tripod inside the ruins and monasteries.

Antigua Guatemala is a small town. The best way to explore the town is by foot. Parque Central is the center of the town and a good starting point for sightseeing.
