Hungary Fire Tower, Sopron
The icon of Sopron, the 58 meter high Tűztorony, stands on the main square, Fő tér. The tower, whose origins date back to the 13th century, served for centuries as a city tower and later as a watchtower for observing fires. Its structure combines Baroque and Gothic elements, which have been renovated several times, most recently between 2009 and 2012. The tower includes the remains of a Roman city gate and a cellar prison. Visitors can climb 119 steps to a balcony with a beautiful panoramic view, which has also been a monument to the city's loyalty since the plebiscite in 1921.
Photography Tips
I didn't have time to climb the tower, but Sopron is a beautiful historic town surrounded by walls, and the view from tower is definitely worth it.
