Hungary Goat Church, Sopron
The Benedictine church on Sopron's Main Square, also known by its popular name Kecske-templom (Goat Church), was built in the 13th–14th centuries in the Gothic style. The church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is one of the most important monuments in Sopron. It got its name from the goat decorating the tower, which was the heraldic animal of Heinrich Geisel, who financed the construction. Throughout history, five provincial assemblies were held here, and Ferdinand III and Eleanor of Palatinate-Neuburg were crowned here. The architectural style of the cathedral is a mixture of several periods, with medieval Gothic and Baroque elements forming a harmonious whole.
