Travel Information
From Reykjavík, drive north on Road 1 before turning onto raod 60 into the Westfjords, then continue south toward Patreksfjörður via road 62. From there, follow gravel roads 612 and 614 toward Rauðasandur. From Reykjavik it takes approx. 6/7 hours without stops. The final mountain pass to Rauðasandur is steep, winding, and partly unpaved, so get a 4WD to get there.
