Sprengisandur is a deserted area in the icelandic highlands between the glaciers Vatnajökull and Hofsjökull. Where water doesn't drain away immediately there are seldom green and colourfull oases.[

Travel Information

Compared to other highland tracks I have driven (Kaldidalur, Kjölur, to Askja and Kverkfjöll) the Sprengisandur offers little diversion and because of its length the ride is even more strenuous.
