Iceland Stuðlagil Canyon
The fascination of this canyon lies in the contrast between the spectacular basalt columns and the turquoise blue water.
There are a few rock formations in the riverbed that are quite easy to climb up.
Unfortunately, this place is now also very well known, so it is better to avoid it at peak times.

Photography Tips
Bring a wide-angle lens to get the most out of this unreal scenery in your image. You can play with your composition by finding low-angle spots and basalt formations in your foreground. A person will give this location a great sense of scale. Don´t come here after heavy rain (the water will be dirty)
Travel Information
Make sure to follow the directions on google maps after setting the final destination (marked parking lot) you have to cross the river with your car and follow it to end up on the right side of the river for this location. There is a viewing platform on the right side of the river but no chance to get closer by yourself. From the parking lot it's an easy walk (around 2km I would say) to reach the canyon.
