Iceland Bolungarvik Beach Rivers
Bolungarvík Beach lies along the dramatic coastline of Iceland’s remote Westfjords, framed by steep mountains that drop sharply into the sea. A bit away from the main beach, there will be continuous river outflows. These sidearms create beautiful shapes and leading lines.
Photography Tips
An ultra wide angle lens makes sense here since the landscape is quite wide. Rivers can be used as leading lines. Make sure to underexpose a bit due to the fact that you will miss out on highlights otherwise.
Travel Information
Getting around the Westfjords in winter and early spring can be challenging, as many mountain roads are closed or only accessible with a 4x4 vehicle equipped with winter tires. Weather conditions change quickly, so it’s essential to check updates from the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration and Icelandic Meteorological Office before traveling. Distances are long, services are sparse, and driving in daylight is recommended due to limited visibility and icy conditions.
