There's a charter boat that goes out to a small island that is full of wildlife (puffins, etc.). You can't land on the island, but the trip to and from is great for birdwatching and also to see a different view of the landscapes nearby, including Kirkjufell.

Photography Tips

This is an open boat, bring a long lens. Because you are on a boat you can't use a tripod. Try to be near the front of the boat as you approach the island because the boat will hang just off island and it will be difficult to get a good shot over other passengers.

Travel Information

You can park right at the boat dock at Grundarfjörður. Make reservations before you arrive as it may be busy in the tourist season. The ride out and back takes a few hours.
