Thiksey is a Buddhist temple and monastery complex located about 18 km away from the district capital Leh in the northwest Indian mountain region of Ladakh. The monastery is located at an altitude of almost 3300 m on a hill in the upper Indus valley. It was founded at the beginning of the 15th century.
