Jagdish Temple India

Jagdish Hindu Temple is just down the road from the City Palace in Udaipur. It was completed in 1651 and it is remarkably well-preserved. Visitors walk around shoeless in the constantly swept marble floors and steps admiring the finely carved walls of figures and elephants. As is characteristic of so many walls of carved figures in Rajasthan, you’ll see the occasional reminder that this is the birth place of the Karma Sutra.

There are no official guides om site but you might have a little man explain some of what you see and then take you to a small shop inside the structure where artists paint very fine miniatures in the Indian tradition. Some were so fine you need to magnify them with your mobile phone to appreciate the detail.
