Amazing place to photograph history, landscape and wildlife.
In the spring the island is crazy with puffins, which are not at all afraid of humans. They fly in and will run right past your toes into their burrows.

Photography Tips
Bring both wide angle and long lenses, especially if you want to shoot wildlife (puffins)
Travel Information
Most land by chartered boat with minimal slots and seasonal challenges
You need to reach this location by charter boat - the easiest is from Portmagee. You can't always land here; you are dependent on weather and chop. It is not an easy trip out; the island is about 8-9 miles offshore and there is quite a bit of chop. Open boats will get you there, but expect to be wet on arrival.
You can stay right in the village of Portmagee, there is plenty of parking and the charter boats are right there. However, reserve your spot on the boat well in advance especially during the busy season.
