Ireland Cliffs of Moher, view to O'Briens Tower
Cliffs of Moher, coastal View. You can see O'Brien's Tower on the cliff.
The Cliffs of Moher, rising over 200 meters above the wild Atlantic Ocean, are one of Ireland’s most iconic and breathtaking natural landmarks. Stretching for about 8 kilometers along the coast of County Clare, these cliffs offer sweeping views of rugged rock formations, sea caves, and crashing waves far below. While the cliffs are a must-see for any traveler on the Wild Atlantic Way, they’re also one of the most visited attractions in Ireland — so expect large crowds, tour buses, and limited space along the main viewpoints.

Photography Tips
For a peaceful experience and the best light, visit at sunrise — you’ll avoid the crowds and capture the cliffs bathed in soft golden tones. A telephoto lens (70–200mm) works wonderfully to compress the dramatic layers of the cliffs, while a wide-angle lens helps include flowers or foreground elements for added depth. Overcast skies create a moody, quintessentially Irish atmosphere, while sunny breaks after rain often produce dramatic light contrasts. If you prefer a quieter setting, explore the trails beyond the main visitor area for more natural and less congested compositions.
Travel Information
The Cliffs of Moher are located near Liscannor and Doolin along the R478. The main visitor center charges a high parking fee, covering access to the viewing platforms. To avoid crowds and costs, consider parking at Hags Head on the southern end of the cliffs — a scenic walk along the trail and far less crowded. Facilities, cafés, and restrooms are available at the visitor center but can get busy throughout the day. Always stay on marked paths and keep a safe distance from cliff edges.
