Ireland Mizen Head Signal Station (Drone)
Historic Fog Signal Station at some breathtaking cliffs.
The first bridge was built here in 1907, and a fog signaling system was installed in 1909. From then on, this signaling system warned ships of the dangerous cliffs.
A radio transmission tower was erected in 1931, which was automated about 60 years later. For a long time, this signaling tower was the last radio contact ships had with Europe before crossing the Atlantic to America. Conversely, for many ships from America, this was their first contact with Europe after several weeks at sea.
