Clogher Bay, located near Ballyferriter on the Dingle Peninsula, is one of the wildest and most beautiful beaches in County Kerry. Surrounded by steep cliffs and open to the full force of the Atlantic, it’s a place where nature feels raw and untamed. On clear days, you can see Sybil Head to the north and the Blasket Islands on the horizon — a truly cinematic view that captures the essence of Ireland’s west coast. The beach itself is not suitable for swimming due to strong currents, but it’s a spectacular place to walk, photograph, or simply sit and listen to the waves.

Photography Tips

A drone is ideal here to reveal the bay’s unique curve and the turquoise tones of the water contrasted with the cliffs. Shoot with a top-down or diagonal angle to emphasize the symmetry and texture of the coastline. The best light comes in the late afternoon or early morning, when the cliffs catch a warm glow and the water turns deep blue-green. On overcast days, embrace the moody atmosphere — it suits the wild Atlantic perfectly.

Travel Information

Clogher Bay lies about 15 minutes west of Dingle town, near Ballyferriter village. The road is narrow but paved, and there’s a small parking area directly overlooking the beach — perfect for campervans or quick stops. The site is free to access and offers easy footpaths down to the sand. It’s also part of the Wild Atlantic Way, making it an ideal stop on a coastal drive around the Dingle Peninsula.
