Travel Information

The parking is along the main route, just in front at the restaurant. The spot was taken from the opposite front of the Blue Lake, that in winter is totally frozen. The Matterhorn isn't normally illuminated in the night and is often covered by the clouds.

Totally agree with you! Such a beautiful mountain! Could you rename the spot to "Matterhorn" and add that hint to your description? In this way the spot is easier to find by our search for others, searching for Matterhorn. :) By the way: Is this illumination unique or are they doing this on a regular base?

Thank you Manuel! I've changed the description, it's ok? =) This illumination is unique, there has been just a few days in january 2015 during the centenary of the first climb from the Italian side. It was magnificent!

What a great timing then... Magnificent without any doubts! I love events like this... the Matterhorn seems to be so little that a flashlight is illuminating it, but when you keep staring at the image you recognize how massive and huge everything is...

You're right. The Matterhorn looks like a small model with this light. =)
