This is the Apuan Alps Regional Park, yes Tuscany has it's own Alps, home of the world famous Carrara Marble, Michelangelo's fav's, you can explore the caves, hundreds of them both operative or abandoned. Eat the good'ole soul warming wild haunted mountain tuscan cousine. You can even ski if you like, just head to the Abetone ski resort for some steep slopes and whenever climate change forget to be so damn actual even good powder.

This spot points the sea, and points the sunset, so you know when to go.
With clouds everything looks more dramatic, dress up in a proper way, it's a 1230 m spot nearby the seaside so the weather changes quickly, the N/W Riviera is the rainiest area of Italy.

Travel Information

First get in northern Tuscany, Pisa, Florence or Bologna airport, second visit Lucca rather then Pisa, because Pisa is disappointing, Lucca is surprising, that's why, then focus on the tuscan aemilian appennine range, set Fornovolasco on your GPS and once there follow the hike to Monteforato, walk for about 2 panormic hours, there you are.
