This is a Sicilian Baroque at its most extreme, yet barely a soul walking around in there. It was built by the Jesuits in the early 1600s. Alterations made in the 1700s added a smaller nave either side the main, original one. These each include a series of arches that I thought made interesting shots.

A bomb during WW II took down the dome and surrounding walls. After restoration it was re-opened in 2009. The core remained intact.

We were just passing on our way between the Fountain of Shame (Fontana Pretoria) and a nearby street market and were passing the church. It looked just like any other, no big signage, but when we entered, we were amazed.

Photography Tips

The usual for photographing interiors with subdued light: tripod and wide-angle lenses.
