In the film Ladyhawke, this was the residence of the bishop of Avignon. Castello di Torrechiara is a striking fortress near Parma, built in the 15th century by a nobleman for his lover. Set on a hilltop, it overlooks the countryside with grand towers and thick walls. Inside, it features beautifully painted rooms, especially the famous Golden Chamber. The castle combines military strength with romantic elegance and remains a popular spot for visitors today.

Photography Tips

For a stunning photo of Castello di Torrechiara, head to the hills opposite the castle. From there, you get a wide, elevated view that shows the full structure rising above the landscape. Shoot during sunrise or sunset for warm light and long shadows. A tripod helps with sharp images in low light. Framing the castle with trees or vineyards adds depth to the scene.
