A stunning view over a picturesque Italian village built right into the mountainside – a perspective that’s truly unique and hard to find elsewhere.
Pro tip: Don’t shoot from the exact location marked on Google Maps – there are usually bushes obstructing the view. Instead, walk a bit uphill toward the parking area. Just beside it, you’ll find a much clearer and more open vantage point for capturing the full beauty of the village and the surrounding landscape.

Photography Tips

Bring a tripod – it’s essential here. Depending on the composition you want, a 24–70 mm or even a 70–200 mm lens works best: either to capture the entire village with the surrounding mountains or to zoom in for more detail.
As always, blue hour is ideal. Aim for the moment when artificial lights are already glowing but there’s still enough natural light for balanced exposure.
Pro tip: Within the village streets, you’ll find several well-lit spots. Try zooming in from your elevated viewpoint, framing both the lit-up streets and the mountains in the background. Then, wait for someone to walk through the light – adding a human element can really elevate the atmosphere of your shot.

Travel Information

Pietrapertosa isn’t the easiest place to reach – there are two winding roads leading into the village, one from above and one from below. During peak tourist season, traffic can be a bit tricky, and navigating the narrow village streets – especially with larger cars – requires caution.
That said, this spot has a big advantage: there are parking spaces right next to it. And since it’s located slightly outside the village center, parking is often available.
While you’re waiting for the perfect light, grab an aperitivo at the small bar nearby – it’s a great place to relax and soak in the atmosphere.
