At sunrise, the Saènt Waterfalls in Val di Rabbi offer a magical interplay of light and mist. As the first rays of sunlight break over the mountains, they illuminate the fine spray from the cascading water, creating golden beams and shimmering particles in the air. Surrounded by alpine forests and rugged rocks, it’s a scene full of power and serenity — a perfect blend of motion and atmosphere.

Be there early — just as the sun starts rising behind the peaks. Position yourself where the light hits the waterfall mist at an angle to catch the golden glow or potential light rays. Use a tripod and shoot long exposures (with ND filters) to capture silky water and contrast it with the dancing sunlight in the spray. A polarizer can help reduce glare on wet rocks while deepening the colors.

The Saènt Waterfalls are located in Val di Rabbi within Stelvio National Park. From the parking area at Colèr, it’s about a 45-minute hike to the main waterfall. The trail is scenic and well-marked. Autumn mornings can be chilly and damp, so come prepared. Drone flying may be restricted in parts of the park — always verify current regulations before your visit.
