Italy Palermo Cathedral
The cathedral, officially the Cattedrale Metropolitana della Santa Vergine Maria Assunta, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its unique Arab-Norman architectural style, a blend of Western, Islamic, and Byzantine elements that flourished in Sicily under the Normans.
The small, tiled domes are a key feature of the view. These cupolas, often featuring a green-and-gold fish-scale pattern of glazed ceramic tiles (Maiolica), cover the nave and clerestory windows. They vividly illustrate the lasting influence of Arab and Byzantine design on the Norman architecture.

Photography Tips
The photo is taken from the rooftop terraces (often referred to as the 'Tetti' or roofs), which are accessible to the public for a panoramic view of the city. The walkway you are standing on is bordered by the distinctive crenellated battlement (merlons) which are characteristic of the Arab-Norman style and give the structure a fortress-like appearance.
