Italy Arco Basso (pasta street)

Arco Basso is the famous “pasta street” in Bari Vecchia, where local women make fresh orecchiette by hand in front of their homes. The small street has old stone walls, wooden tables and pasta drying outside, making it a very local and photogenic place. It is a real working street, not only a tourist attraction, so it is nice to walk slowly and watch the pasta being made.

Go in the morning, when the pasta makers are usually working and the light comes into the small street. If yo can, try to avoid very strong midday light.

From Bari city centre, Arco Basso is easy to reach on foot, around 15-20 minutes from Bari Centrale. By car, you cannot drive directly to the spot because Bari Vecchia has restricted traffic and ZTL areas. It is better to park outside the old town and walk. You can park at the parking pin and walk from there.
