Japan Fushimi Inari-Taisha, Kyoto
Fushimi Inari Shrine is an important Shinto shrine in southern Kyoto. It is famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates, which straddle a network of trails behind its main buildings. The trails lead into the wooded forest of the sacred Mount Inari, which stands at 233 meters and belongs to the shrine grounds.
Photography Tips
It's very crowded, basically all the time. I got this shot by waiting for the right moment when there were no people in frame but it does require some patience because the place is extremely popular.
I would recommend coming in the morning hours before sunrise at around 4:30 am. It is the best time for pictures without any people. From 7 am on, it is super crazy packed!

The easiest way to move around in Kyoto is to rent a bicycle. For around 20 euros per day, you are so flexible and can be spontaneous everywhere. For us, it was the perfect match and is the most common thing for locals.
