This is a viewpoint of famous Himeji castle. It is somewhat off the main tracks but easy to find. No entrance fee.

Photography Tips

This viewpoint of Himeji-jo is visited best immediately before sunrise. The castle has been re-whitened recently, its glare increases rapidly according to sun's elevation. During cherry blossom season the spot can be very crowded.

From Himeji station you'll have to walk for approx. 1 km. It is recommended to arrive in Himeji city the evening before going to this viewpoint.
