The city Beppu is one of Japan's most famous hot spring resorts, producing more hot spring water than any other city in the country. It is the right place for relaxing, calming for mind and soul.

You should go in one of the famous Onsen here. Just inform yourself before, where tattoos are prohibited.

Photography Tips

Wait until the night sets in. The upcoming fog from the hot springs in combination with the city lights looks amazing. Bring your tripod for a longtime exposure with you, switch to the manual focus mode and choose your shutter between 10-20 sec. That's more than enough here for the effect of a longtime exposure.

Travel Information

For Kyushu it is worth it to rent a car. You are way much more flexible than with the trains.

The parking lot from the observation deck is directly in front of the building.
